Southern Fried Chicken

Authentic taste of herbs and spices to create finger-licking chicken!

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 kl chicken pieces
  • 600ml Buttermilk
  • 1.25 cups Plain flour
  • 3 tbsp Southern Fried Chicken Blend
  • Vegetable oil to shallow fry
  • 1 Egg

Instructions
 

  • Place the chicken pieces in a dish and cover with buttermilk. Leave to stand overnight.
  • Sieve the flour and stir in the spices.
  • Beat the egg in a shallow dish.
  • Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and drain, dip into the beaten egg then roll in the seasoned flour.
  • Allow to stand for 15 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a large frypan until very hot.
  • Place the chicken skin side down and cook for 10 minutes before turning over and cook for a further 10 minutes.
  • Drain on kitchen paper and serve.

Also great to use for Chicken Nuggets and Schnitzel - the perfect breadcrumbs!
