Southern Fried Chicken

Authentic taste of herbs and spices to create finger-licking chicken!

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 kl chicken pieces
  • 600ml Buttermilk
  • 1.25 cups Plain flour
  • 3 tbsp Southern Fried Chicken Blend
  • Vegetable oil to shallow fry
  • 1 Egg

Method
 

  1. Place the chicken pieces in a dish and cover with buttermilk. Leave to stand overnight.
  2. Sieve the flour and stir in the spices.
  3. Beat the egg in a shallow dish.
  4. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and drain, dip into the beaten egg then roll in the seasoned flour.
  5. Allow to stand for 15 minutes.
  6. Heat oil in a large frypan until very hot.
  7. Place the chicken skin side down and cook for 10 minutes before turning over and cook for a further 10 minutes.
  8. Drain on kitchen paper and serve.

Also great to use for Chicken Nuggets and Schnitzel - the perfect breadcrumbs!
