Southern Fried Chicken
Authentic taste of herbs and spices to create finger-licking Southern Fried Chicken!
Ingredients
- 1.5 kilos chicken pieces
- 600ml Buttermilk
- 1.25 cups Plain flour
- 3Tbs Southern Fried Chicken Blend
- Vegetable oil to shallow fry
- 1 Egg
Step 1
Place the chicken pieces in a dish and cover with buttermilk. Leave to stand overnight.
Step 2
Sieve the flour and stir in the spices.
Step 3
Beat the egg in a shallow dish.
Step 4
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and drain, dip into the beaten egg then roll in the seasoned flour.
Step 5
Allow to stand for 15 minutes.
Step 6
Heat oil in a large frypan until very hot.
Step 7
Place the chicken skin side down and cook for 10 minutes before turning over and cook for a further 10 minutes.
Step 8
Drain on kitchen paper and serve.
