Nice cheap source of bulk EC1118, for those of us whom can’t make timely use of a 125gm pack.I’ve used 1118 in a few meads and ciders and always been satisfied with the result. Giving it my first try in a sour wine now – I know there are better options for this specific use but what the hey :).

Pitch this Yeast!
My significant other and I enjoy home brewing. From cider to sparkling wine. For our sparkling wine, we enjoy this Lalvin EC-1118 Wine Yeast. It couldn’t be easier to use. With 10 individual packs included, you are good to brew for quite some time.We use one package of EC-1118 per 3 to 5 gallons of grape juice. We’ve never had an issue with quality of product, or the yeast becoming active and helping us make the nectar of gods. Our fermentation takes approximately a month in primary, and then we bottle-age the sparkling wine in the bottle for another 4-6 months. I’m unclear if the flavor of young bottles, which tends to be a little to grape-flavored, is a function of the yeast, or just the immature age of the product. However, after 4-6 months of bottle aging, the sparkling wine is beautifully dry, and very effervescent.I highly recommend the Lalvin EC-1118 Sparkling Wine Yeast for home brewing. We keep the unused packages in the refrigerator, until our next home-brew session. Happy brewing!
